libreadline 8 made it into [core], although not all packages were rebuilt against it yet.
This breaks several packages, some of them vital for the system.
Before proceeding to update, please check the package database for the updated packages if it mentions a 'not satisfiable dependency: "libreadline.so.7"'.
I'll update this notice when all/most packages have been rebuilt against the new readline package and have been moved to core/extra/community.
Sorry for the trouble,
deep42thought
Edit:
most packages have been rebuilt and are in core/extra/community. Exceptions:
gap
js60
libgda
percona-server
percona-server-clients
sagemath

Tsk, this was flagged up in testing already. And indeed you posted in that thread 2.5 hours before making this thread, but I guess the damage may have been done already by then.

I meant "the buildmaster" moved - not "I" (or anybody else) moved ...
This is really strange, as the dependencies are all there and recognized in our mysql database

Hah, sorry, I did not mean to accuse anyone. I guess there's no automated way to get the buildmaster to hold off promoting things when there's a forum post about it, but posts still mean maintainers are forewarned of issues as they arise.
This isn't the first time your database has been ignored IIRC.

yeah, the logic is not error-free, it seems - in the past I was always assuming human (=mostly my) error: you can overrule the buildmaster's logic ("force").
regarding holding back a move: the bugtracker is (=should be) considered for that! ... but again, it can be overruled by --force
P.S.: no offense taken
