At least the mentioned chipsed is the same: NM10/ICH7.

Did you try to blacklist the module?

You cannot break more than what's already broken (aka sound).. ;-)

Re: [solved] Sound Netbook with Intel Atom N270 - MSI U100

I haven't yet found a depencency from the lxqt group and pulseaudio, but I've only checked a couple of likely looking core modules so far.    If pulseaudio is installed and things try to use it they might report errors but they'll generally not get a aqueak out of it until it's fixed.

Edit: Or maybe not.  Look like I'd not checked what was on offer for a little over a week now, and when I now checked there was a whole host of things including a new pulseaudio.  I'll test it and report back.

Edit2: Yes, that fixed it.  Took a reboot, but that might have been because of some kernel module problems because it came with a new version of the kernel while it was updating.

So, the working ones use alsa and the non-working ones pulseaudio.
This would indicate pulse is still broken.

Re: [solved] Sound Netbook with Intel Atom N270 - MSI U100

As I mentioned above it was working for me after the update I picked up two days ago.  It was broken for a month or so prior to that.

Looking in my /var/cache/pacman/pkg folder, I have pulseaudio-12.2-2.6 which I assume is broken, and pulseaudio -13.0-2.2 which I think fixed that.  There's just under a month between their modification dates.

Re: [solved] Sound Netbook with Intel Atom N270 - MSI U100

How can i install  pulseaudio -13.0-2.2  from testingt?
At this time i use only stable.

change1

I have edit

nano /etc/pacman.conf

#[testing]
#Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

--->
[testing]
Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

Now i can install pulseaudio -13.0-2.2

With pulseaudio -13.0-2.2 my sound works fine.

When we get pulseaudio -13.0-2.2 in stable?

Re: [solved] Sound Netbook with Intel Atom N270 - MSI U100

It does sound like it should be promoted to stable forthwith, yes.  The only difficulty is finding out what else needs to be pushed if anything. I know for example that vlc on my system uses pulseaudio, but it's not listed as a dependency.  My vlc did get updated at the same time as pusleaudio, so presumably it needs to be promoted as well as if it tries to load libpulseaudio.so.13.0.

What have you tested?

Re: [solved] Sound Netbook with Intel Atom N270 - MSI U100

Okay, perhaps pulseaudio is accessed via some kind of IPC rather than software dynamically loading any pulseaudio lib, assuming you didn't update firefox and chromium from the testing repo while you updated pulseaudio.

Hello, i use Chromium and Firefox from testing.
I have only install pulseaudio -13.0-2.2 from testing.

The testing source now closed again.

Why did archlinux64 stable have pulseaudio 13.0-2 at this time?

Because it's targetting a different set of machines.  To be fair I don't actually know what our process if for promoting things from testing to stable, or that for 64bit Arch either, but it's possible for software in testing to be broken on i686 which isn't on x64, and broken software shouldn't be promoted to stable until it's been fixed.
