It may be that the packages in testing have been built in a way that their PKGBUILDs don't include all of the provides keywords. Certainly wxgtk2 3.0...-1.0 provides wxgtk so I'm not sure why the -2.0 no longer does. Apparently however the x264 package now advises that it provides version 161-32 of libx264.so, so perhaps in that case we need an updated ffmpeg PKGBUILD with updated depends on versions. z265 has updated it's provides version to 199-32 from 192-32 for information.

I was able to force an install of other packages by passing --ignore wxgtk4,x264,x265 to my upgrade command, but that's not ideal, and I'd suggest the root cause needs to be fixed before any of these packages are pushed to stable.

Edit: x264 and x265 seem to have been released to testing on the afternoon of March 25th. I wasn't able to even download the wxgtk2 package even using -Swd argument to pacman.

this is (partially) my fault: I started to move packages from staging to testing more aggressively. ffmpeg simply needs to be rebuilt, but it currently is not scheduled for building due to missing dependencies (I thought, I had sorted that out, but apparently, I did not)

No problem; that's why I run the testing repos, so we can spot these things before they hit stable. Looks like you've already rebuilt ffmpeg, so you just now need to sort out the wxgtk2 PKGBUILD and rebuild that I think now for me at least.

Whoops. I didn't identify wxformbuilder-git as something I'd built myself, despite the -git flag. Once I'd put my brain in gear I recognised that and checked. I don't have all the dependencies at present to rebuild it, and I can't remember why I had to build it in the first place, but I've removed it for now, and the upgrade is going ahead!

Is wxgtk2 still a problem? The package looks ok from the outside.

Well, it's not stopping me upgrading, but it does seem to have dropped the 'provides: wxgtk' line. Whether that's an issue for something I don't use I couldn't say, and there might be a deliberate reason why it no longer claims that. Seems unexpected that change would happen between a -1.0 build and a -2.0 build though.
