It seems that linux-pae has been stuck in kernel 5.17 for some time. It there a particular reason that linux-pae had stopped working for 32-bit x86?
I found that EDK2 EFI32 boot manager can only boot linux-pae with EFISTUB. The non-pae linux kernel failed to load but booted fine from startup.nsh after dropping to EFI shell.

mmh. indeed. pkgver='5.19.9' in PKGBUILD.. it's not on the failed list, so let's rebuild it and see where it fails..

sed seems to work for me on local files at least. Perhaps it doesn't have sufficient privs for that file or it simply doesn't exist when deb is called?

no, it tries to read the wrong file, i.e. there should be a non-empty $srcdir in front ... my bad
